Model Size to Real Size Converter
Measure your model, choose the scale it was built to, and the converter multiplies up to reveal the real-life size it represents.
Selected: OO Scale (1:76)
Enter your model's measurement and its scale. The app multiplies by the scale number to reveal the real-life size.
Your result will appear here.
How to use this converter
- 1. Measure the model accurately, ideally to the nearest 0.1 mm for small figures.
- 2. Choose the scale denominator the model was made to.
- 3. Press Calculate to see the real-world size in millimetres, centimetres, metres, inches and feet.
Formula and worked examples
Model size × scale denominator = real size
| Model size | Scale | Real size |
|---|---|---|
| 25 mm figure | 1:72 | 25 × 72 = 1,800 mm (approximately 5 ft 11 in) |
| 13.16 mm door | 1:76 (OO) | 13.16 × 76 = 1,000.16 mm, effectively 1 m |
| 150 mm figure | 1:12 | 150 × 12 = 1,800 mm |
This is the reverse of converting a real measurement down to model size. It is useful when a second-hand kit carries no scale on the box: measure one known dimension, multiply by the stated scale and see whether the result is a plausible real size.
